invention of identikit pictures

An identikit picture is like a puzzle made from different pieces of faces that a witness gives to help finalize a suspect in a crime. It was invented and patented in 1958 by Hugh Mc Dorold of the Los Angeles Police Department. An attack on a store in Los Angeles in 1958 was the first occasion that the identikit was used. It is not always reliable. The FBI, that hand drawing is the preferred method for facial composites. AI technology is now also used. Sorting 50000 photographs and then reduce into 500 basic types. The method of use is to check the completed image with the witness and make necessary corrections. A picture of the face of someone who the police want to find. Usually, that person is thought to have committed a crime. Identikit pictures help police identify suspects with public input. There are three types, and the purpose is to help the search for the criminal. It is made from descriptions given to them by witnesses of a crime. This is an eyewitness or victim provides...

This weekend's homework

"To enhance our English skills, we can follow these steps: 1. Choose Material: Select a suitable book for studying, whether it's a favorite novel, news article, or any other engaging text. It's important to pick the right book.   2. Read Aloud: Read the chosen material aloud or silently multiple times. Focus on pronunciation and understanding new words in context.   3. Write it Down: Handwrite the text to practice spelling, sentence structure, and writing skills.   4. Type it Out: Type the text on a laptop to improve touch typing and reinforce vocabulary.   By dedicating a week to one book and following these steps, we can adopt a habit similar to hers."

Soap

We had been using soap for about 5000 years, from the time of Babylon. Three and a half thousand years ago, Egyptians regularly washed themselves with soap. The Romans didn't know about soap but used oil for cleaning themselves instead. The Egyptians also used a kind of soap to wash wool, prior to spinning and weaving. Later, the Romans manufactured soap from ashes and animal fat, but for hairdressing, not for cleaning. After the year 600, soap was mainly manufactured in Palestine and Iraq. On the first half of the 20th century, there were advertising campaigns to try to get people to use it. It was only in the late 19th century that you could buy bars of soap in the USA. Some Western countries were slow to use soap since personal hygiene wasn't considered so important. In Arab countries, soap was made from olive oil mixed with Sodium Lye, and the formula for soap has not changed much since then. Modern soaps are perfumed and colored, but so were those historic Arab soaps. Only...

Geothermal energy

I watched a video about geothermal energy, and I was able to learn a lot of things from that video. Geothermal is the massive energy in the earth, which is 1 million billion gigawatts. The major problem with geothermal energy is that drilling is costly. The cost will be higher when you want to drill more deeply. The technology of geothermal has yet to be developed too much. There is a word that is supercritical. It means that if you drill in really deep place that is hot that water becomes supercritical and it makes massive energy and water can transport with that.

My smart goal

The SMART Goal framework helps in setting effective and achievable goals by focusing on five key elements: Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound. Following this framework, I have set a goal to improve my English-speaking skills and enhance my physical fitness.  I plan to dedicate 30 minutes daily to practicing English using language learning apps, ensuring my progress is trackable through app metrics. Additionally, I aim to follow a structured workout routine, with three gym sessions per week focused on muscle gain. I will use a fitness app to monitor my workouts and progress.  Achieving these goals is crucial for my personal growth and well-being. By committing to these practices, I aspire to become proficient in English and improve my physical health. Failure to meet these goals would hinder my development. Thus, I am determined to stay focused and disciplined to reach my desired outcomes within the set time frame.

Michael's class

Today, I was able to interact with many different people. It was fun because I could talk about many things in English. To be honest, I think it would be good to incorporate this as part of the class. I think that talking English is pretty good way to study English because it means nothing if I don't use some grammar that I learned. I mean we should output.   In the end, I am glad that I was able to exchange contact information with a cute guy. I will use her as writing study. It was a very fun class.

The report by AI

Japanese students desire authentic materials (jargon, jokes, idioms, lyrics, movies) and 'serious' content covering health, lifestyle, society, finance, environment, and design. They prefer more input (reading, listening) to increase fluency and wish for fewer interruptions during class. The teacher proposes introducing serious content via project work, addressing the 5 assessment course requirements. The course focuses on functional English in an Engineering context, preparing students for multicultural classrooms and emphasizing content over form, research, and initiative. Evaluation includes self, colleague, teacher, and course assessments, aligning with common practices in Western education.

Language

I know Chinese and Korean, but just some words. I am not sure about their grammar. However, they both have very easy words. I like K-pop and this is why I'm interested in Korean. There are many similarities between Japanese and Korean. It is pronunciation such as family, classroom, time, and possible. In Japanese, they are pronounced as Kazoku, Kyoshitsu, Jikan, and kanou. In Korean, they are pronounced as Kajoku, Kyoshiru, Shigan, and Kanun. In Japanese's opinion, learning Korean is the easiest language because they are similar. As I described, Korean and Japanese are similar, so Japanese think easy.
